The House of the Secchi & Triachi

The House of the Secchi & Triachi is located in the historic center of Arcidosso, at via Talassese 10. It is an ethnographic museum created with the aim of enhancing and making usable the signs of the rural and artisan past of the Amiata Mountain. It collects objects, tools, images and captions that relate to rural and woodland culture, old trades, the home, traditions and everyday life over a period of time from the mid-19th to mid-20th century. The museum itinerary, divided by themes, is spread over five rooms and an entrance hall: on display are the irons that guarded the entrance to the house, the everyday objects of the kitchen and room, the work tools of the farmer, carpenter, blacksmith, mason and kiln worker, and the activities of the territory, such as chestnut, wine, and the forest with its trades: charcoal burner, woodcutter, sawyer, squarer, lumberjack and coachman.

An expansion project is underway with other trades and other themes covering activities related to the Amiata area, such as yellow earth, wool and the gualtiera (similar to a watermill), honey, mining, health and religiosity.
