Enjoying Tuscany to the fullest, between sport and open-air activities

During the first experience of Play Your Tuscany we have explored art and food, two key elements that are at the base of this territory's fame and have forged its past and present identity.

After having savoured Tuscany with our palate and our eyes, it's time to step outside, stare at the sun and fully live the nature around us, by way of sport and open-air activities.
Green and blue are the colours of this second Play Your Tuscany, a blog tour marked out by plenty of activities, such as diving, kayaking, sailing, trekking and horse riding, but with some well-deserved moments of relaxation as well!
From the "aquamarine” green of the Elba Island to the “emerald” green of the grass of the Maremma Regional Park.

Sport, nature and Tuscany, what else do you need?

Elba Island: out and into the blue
June 19, 2013

From Piombino Marittima, the ferry gets the players to the Island of Elba: destination of the first part of this blog tour and stage of many adventures ahead.

Have you ever dived into the blue sea? The water makes you shiver but it excites you at the same time, the sound of waves suddenly disappears leaving enough room for silence. The world drifts apart and what remains is just you, the water and a sense of freedom.
Diving into Play Your Tuscany will be exactly like that!

After a good night sleep, the morning is dedicated to a number of sport and open-air activities from which the players can choose from.

To regain the adrenaline and strength consumed during the morning fun, after a light lunch, the afternoon is dedicated to the exploration of the most beautiful beaches of the island.
Diving is now rigourously freestyle, with an award for the most creative one!

When the sun goes down, it's time to enjoy a well deserved dinner and a good night sleep.

Portoferraio: a travel through history
June 20, 2013

On the second day, still on the island, the adventure continues in Portoferraio.
A guided visit leads the players to discover the historic parts of this town, made famous by Napoleon who was exiled here in 1814.

The excursion ends with a light lunch at the Fortezza Enoteca, a winebar within the 16th century city walls of the Medici fortresses. From here, the historic centre and the gulf of Portoferraio are the perfect set for a wonderful panorama.

A ferry-boat takes the group back to the mainland.
There, crossing marvelous landscapes, the players reach the next destination: Maremma.
After getting settled in the hotel, the dinner takes place in front of the unique show of “Butteri maremmani“.

Maremma: back to the wild
June 21, 2013

Maremma is a polyhedral territory that embraces with the green colour of its nature and the blue of the sea.
Food and sea, sport and exploration. Losing yourselves in this marvelous land is part of the game and whichever activity you'll choose, Maremma will know how to thrill you.

Early in the morning some players join Paolo Fanciulli in Talamone, to go out to sea for a fishing tourism experience, followed by a cooking school right there on the boat.

In the meantime, the rest of the group explores the Maremma Ragional Park, with a trekking in the wild, followed by a stop at the Park visiting centre for a tasting of some typical local products.

The afternoon is again coloured in blue with a maritime relaxation: the players lay down on the sand, while watching the manoeuvres of kite-surfers grappling with the waves of the “sailing coast”.
