Places of worship

The complex was built in the mid-16th century, incorporating the ancient monastery of S. Salvatore, and then progressively rebuilt and enlarged after 1557

In 1781, Leopold I of Habsburg-Lorraine established an educational conservatory on the rooms of the convent, completely modernized at the expense of the Tuscan government. Next to the convent is the church of S. Chiara, built in 1560, renovating an earlier oratory built in 1545 by the Compagnia del SS. Sacramento. Further decorative works date back to 1736. The restorations to the roofs and the consolidation of the masonry were carried out in 1973.
