An urban oasis in Calenzano, close to Florence

The Neto Park covers an area of approximately 7 hectares in a water-rich area between Calenzano and Sesto Fiorentino, a highly urbanized area, to which the park resisted while preserving a strong natural beauty, which was once typical, of the plain. The park owes its romantic image to an entrance with long tree-lined avenues and green lawns where two ponds alternate, a big one with an islet and a smaller one with a series of canals.

It is a pleasure to get lost among the different types of trees that create a unique atmosphere, such as lime trees, plane trees, black alders and horse chestnuts while, along the way, you can meet dormouses, red woodpeckers, the great tit, hedgehogs and shrews.

By the way, you can't help but notice the spectacular beauty of the taxodium distichum or the swamp cypress, which is over 50 meters high and can live up to one thousand years.

The park was created as an extension of the garden of Villa Gamba that, since 1504, has seen a succession in its ownership of large figures and aristocrats, including Ilario Ronillè Marquis de Boissy, peer of France and senator of the Napoleonic Empire, Earl Ignazio Guiccioli, husband of Countess Teresa Gamba and the poet Lord Byron.

Finally this park is suitable for families, children and for practicing sports with 2.1 km of easy-to-walk, cycling or running circuit.
