The well-known pier, in addition to the Fort that gives the area its name, is a symbol of the cosmopolitan Forte dei Marmi and was formerly used for the loading of marble extracted from quarries and brought directly onto ships.
In recent decades, the pier has been replicated by almost all the other areas that overlook the beaches of Versilia.
The city is particularly centered around luxury tourism, making it perfect for high fashion shopping in luxury boutiques and famous for its seaside restaurants and glittering nightlife.
It is for this reason that the elegant and sumptuous villas surrounded by huge parks in the Vittoria Apuana district have multiplied with the impressive panorama of the Apuan Alps that stand out in all their majesty just behind the town.
There may be the shopping but, as is the case for the rest of the coast, the beach is an unmissable part of a holiday in Versilia.
The area is home to entrepreneurs in the sector, who know how to best take care of the area. The coastline is characterized by the splendid prestigious bathing establishments that offer a chance to relax, among many other services. The seabed is rather low, which is perfect for lounging a few meters from the shore and ideal for families with children.
